MG ROAD-BANGLORE
Mahatma Gandhi road more popularly known among the people of Bangalore as M.G Road is one of the busiest roads in the city. During the pre- independence period, at the time of the British reign this place was referred as South Parade by the then rulers.
The M.G. road is supposed to be the trendiest shopping extension of the city stretching from Trinity Circle at one end to Anil Kumble Circle at the other. The road got its name as M.G. road on 26th February, 1948. Apart from being a major shopping destination for the people of Bangalore, M.G. road also houses a number of office buildings, shops and theatres.

There are lots of other shops including crockery, book shop, sweets, and movie theatres dating to several decades which are also seen in M.G. road. The road which perpendicularly runs from the M.G. road is the Brigade road which is also a part of the M.G. road and is also another famous shopping area with mostly branded shops and has the city's the most posh pubs, cafes and show rooms. Church Street is also a part of the M.G. road lined with branded and local branded shops. Not only Bangalore but also cities like New Delhi and Mumbai also have the popular M.G. road but there is no link between them only for the fact that in many cases M.G. roads used to be the busiest part of the city.

There are lot of exclusive shops for saris where women should never miss to go. Deepam silks and Prasiddha at M.G. road are very much popular among the high end market shoppers with their distinct collection of textiles and a wide range of clothes. Brigade Road is one of the biggest commercial centers and busiest shopping areas of Bangalore. As mentioned earlier Brigade road is the road which lies perpendicular to the M.G. road and it serves as a connecting road between MG Road and Residency Road. The Brigade road stretch is not as long as the M.G. road but still it has a number of shopping malls, restaurants, cafes, pubs and western fast food chains such as KFC, McDonalds, Pizza Hut, Domino's and Starbucks lining both the sides of the Brigade road. Brigade road is not only famous among the natives of Bangalore but being the IT hub we can witness the place being visited by lot of foreigners too.

It is fun and a must to visit the Brigade road at the time of New yeas eve for the entire stretch will be brightly lighted with LED lights and it is a very colorful sight to witness this. Most of the shopping malls in this area have multiplexes in them. The traditional Poombukar from the state of Tamil Nadu which sells handicrafts is also situated in Brigade road.
