SWEET RICE
Sweet rice is one of the popular cuisines prepared on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. It is very simple to cook and simply delicious to eat. The rice appears very tempting and makes an ideal dish for lunch or any kind of get together.
Ingredients
Short grain rice(125 ml)
: 1/2 cup
Bhune
: 2 tbsp
Bhune groundnuts
: 3 tbsp
Milk(375 ml)
: 1 1/2 cups
Butter(50 ml)
: 3 tbsp
Sugar or brown or maple sugar(60 ml)
: 4 tbsp
Nutmeg or cinnamon or grated rind of 1 orange(1 ml)
: 1/4 tsp
Method
- Put the rice and the milk in a 4-cup (1 L) microwave-safe bowl. Cover and microwave 20 minutes at MEDIUM.
- Add the butter, sugar or brown or maple sugar, the spice of your choice or the orange rind.
- Stir well with a fork. Cover and microwave 5 to 8 minutes at MEDIUM.
- Stir with a fork when ready to serve. Equally good hot or cold
- To reheat, pour a spoonful or two of milk or cream over the rice. Do not stir. Cover and microwave 2 to 3 minutes, depending on the quantity, at MEDIUM
