PULIYOGARE RICE Vegetarian-Dish

Puliyogare is a powdered masala. It is prepared by adding and roasting a number of ingredients including coconut. It is a famous Karnataka cuisine, which is really delicious to eat with steamed rice. It can also be known as tamarind rice as tamarind is used as a main ingredient in the dish.



Ingredients

Rice
: 1 cup
Water
: 2 cups
Oil
: 4 tsp
Raw peanuts
: 2 tsp
Cashewnuts
: 6
Turmeric
: 1/4 tsp
Pulikkachal
: 6 tsp
Sesame oil
: 2 tsp

Puliyogare Rice

Method

  • Wash and soak the rice for about half an hour.
  • Cook on high mode with power of 60 for 16 minutes while covered.
  • Allow it to stand for 5 to 10 minutes and then spread it in a bowl.
  • To the oil, add raw peanuts, cashewnuts, turmeric powder and curry leaves and roast fully.
  • Pour this on the rice.
  • Add pulikkachal to the rice and mix well.
  • Add sesame oil and mix well
