MAHARASTRIAN FISH CURRY Non-Vegetarian-Dish

Made with only a few ingredients it is the traditional way to make a quick fish curry. This curry turns out especially good when you use tamarind pulp. Kalvan is another word for curry in the Indian language of Marathi. "Kalvan Bhaat" or fish curry and rice is very common and popular in the state of Maharashtra.



Ingredients

Fish
: 1 kg, Sole
Ginger, garlic paste
: 1 tbsp
Turmeric powder
: 1/2 tsp
Chilli powder
: 1/4 tsp
Tamarind extract
: 2 tbsp
Coconut milk
: 1 cup
Coriander
: 1 tbsp
Green chillies,chopped
: 2 nos
Salt
: To taste

Maharastrian Fish Curry

Method

  • Marinate the fish with the red chilli powder, ginger-garlic paste, tamarind paste, turmeric, green chillies and salt.
  • Keep for 1/2 an hour. In a large bottom dish take the oil and add fish and cook covered for 3 minutes on high mode.
  • Turn the fish over and pour the coconut milk over it and cook covered on medium high of 70 for 14 minutes.
  • Garnish with coriander and serve.
