Khel Khel Mein FIRST Review Out: Akshay Delivers 'Solid Performance', Taapsee-Ammy in 'Top Form'

The first Khel Khel Mein review is out and it praises the comedy film. Starring Akshay Kumar, Taapsee Pannu, Ammy Virk, Vaani Kapoor, Fardeen Khan, Pragya Jaiswal and Aditya Seal in the lead, the film marks Akshay’s return to the comedy genre after a long break. The film hosted a special screening on Monday and the first review declares Khel Khel Mein a film with ‘solid performances.’

“Khel Khel Mein is lot of fun! A comedy with heart. Packed with solid performances. Fabulous to see Akshay Kumar sir having a blast in a comedy after so long! Ammy and Taapsee are in top form. Fardeen Khan is solid. Go Watch it in a cinema. Best of luck,” the review by producer Amar Butala read. Akshay reposted the review and thanked him.

The trailer of Khel Khel Mein released earlier this month. The trailer revealed that the film will revolve around a group of people who engaged the daring game of taking a peek into each other’s phones. While it starts off on a hilarious note, things take a turn for the worst.

The film marks Akshay’s return to the comedy genre. The actor has been promoting the film widely. Khel Khel Mein is also crucial for Akshay this year owing to the disappointing box office performances of his previous films this year, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan and Sarfira.

With big bets placed on Khel Khel Mein, all eyes will also be on the film’s competition — John Abraham’s Vedaa and Shraddha Kapoor’s Stree 2. Speaking about clashing with Vedaa, Akshay told News18 Showsha exclusively that he isn’t bothered about releasing his film one the same day as John, who has been his co-star on two films, Garam Masala and Desi Boyz. “Yes, we’ll be working again, hopefully soon. We’re very good friends. We’re close buddies. Clashes at the box office keep happening. It’s not a big deal at all. It’s just a clash and not a slash,” he said.

Meanwhile, Khel Khel Mein director Mudassar Aziz addressed the film’s clash with Stree 2. At the trailer launch, News18.com asked the filmmaker about the shout out he gave to Stree 2 in the trailer and the clash. The director said he wants both the films to perform at the box office.

“We are all a part of Hindi cinema. A festive weekend is coming. I don’t view it as us against them (Street 2). I love Amar Kaushik, I have great respect for the work he does. And I want both our films to work. I want Hindi films to do well. We need to work hard enough to make our industry prosper. When a festive weekend like that comes, we should ask our audience to come in,” he said.

Addressing the shout out, the director added, ‘It’s my way of calling out to Amar and saying that ‘Let’s have a great weekend at the box office.’ Let’s all do well because that’s what Hindi cinema needs.”
