Donald Trump's 'greatest cutter' praise for Elon Musk over firing workers
Former US President Donald Trump was interviewed on Monday by SpaceX and Tesla CEO Elon Musk, which aired live on X and lasted for more than two hours. The much-awaited interview consisted of the two men discussing border issues, the assassination attempt against Trump, and US's inflation crisis, among others.
Trump claimed that US President Joe Biden "might not have any IQ at all", and termed Vice President Kamala Harris his "border czar". The Republican presidential nominee, who has the endorsement of Musk, also praised the X owner for his cost-cutting measures at the social media company.
The conversation, which started after a 40-minute delay, and had more than 1.3 million users 45 minutes into the same, saw both men repeatedly exchanging praises.Â
1. Trump praises Elon Musk's cost-cutting measures: "You're the greatest cutter. I mean, I look at what you do. You walk in, you just say: 'You want to quit?' They go on strike - I won't mention the name of the company - but they go on strike. And you say: 'That's okay, you're all gone.'"
2. Trump recounts assassination bid: "It was a hard hit. It was very, I guess you would say, surreal, but it wasn’t surreal. You know, I was telling somebody, you have instances like this â€æ where you feel it’s a surreal situation. And I never felt that way. I knew immediately that it was a bullet."
3. Trump says 'nuclear warning' bigger than global warning: "I think it's something that's worth reconsidering, but there's so much regulation that people can't get it done so that, you know, maybe they'll have to change the name. Is the rough name. There are some areas, like, when you see what happened to rebranded, we have to give it a good name...We'll name it after you (Elon Musk) or something. It has a branding problem."
4. Trump blasts Joe Biden while talking about Russia-Ukraine war: "This president [has] a low IQ, very low IQ. He had a low IQ 30 years ago, by the way. But now he might not even have an IQ at all. There's nothing on the board that goes this low."
5. Vladimir Putin is a 'good negotiator', says Trump: "You know, Biden did something with Russia. There was no chance of him ever going in. And when I left, and then, then after I left, they started forming big armies on there on the border with Ukraine, right? And I looked at that, and I thought he was doing that because Putin's a good negotiator. I thought he was doing that to negotiate."
6. Trump's praises for Xi Jinping, Kim Jong Un, Putin: "They're at the top of their game; they're tough; they're smart; they're vicious — and they're going to protect their country."
7. Trump's 'radical left' digs at Kamala Harris, Tim Walz: "She is considered more liberal, by far, than Bernie Sanders, She’s a radical left lunatic. And if she’s going to be a president, very quickly, you’re not going to have a country anymore."
8. Elon Musk's offer of help to Trump, if re-elected: "I think it would be great to just have a government efficiency commission that takes a look at these things and just ensures that the taxpayer money, the taxpayers' hard-earned money, is spent in a good way. I'd be happy to help out on such a commission."
9. Trump attacks Kamala Harris on border issues: "Kamala was the border czar, now she's denying it...She could close [the border] up right now...She tries to pretend she's going to do something...she's had three and a half years."
10. Trump repeats he will axe Education Department: "Of the 50 [states], I would bet that 35 would do great, and 15 of them, or, you know, 20 of them will be as good as Norway. You know, Norway is considered great. You can name them. I mean, just they're so good. Some of these countries are so good. But if you go into some of these really well-run states, you know, we have states that don't know what debt is."
