One of the most famous celebrities in the Indian cinema industry is Rajinikanth. He was born on 12th December 1950. He is also a media personality and cultural icon. He did a leading role in his first movie itself and that movie called Apoorva Raagangal won the national film award in the year 1975 and was directed by the famous director K.Balachander. Ranjinikanth considers Balachander as his mentor.

After doing numerous number of movies Ranjinikath became a very famous actor in the cinema industry. Within a few years he became a superstar of Tamil cinema. He is especially known for his different styles and punch dialogues. Rajinikanth is also involved in politics and he was considered as the highest paid actors in the cinema industry, for the movie Sivaji , it is said that he got 26 crores.
He has worked in nearly 150 movies as the leading actor. He has won many amazing awards also like Padma Bhusan and the like. Other than all these he has also worked as a producer and a story writer for movies. The actual name of Rajinikantha is Shivaji Rao Gaiwad , he was born in a middle class Maratha family in Bangalore, Karnataka. He was the younger child for his parents among the four.

After his mother's death at the age of five he went to many hard jobs to fill his stomach in Kannada. He has worked in many places in Chennai during the time from 1966 to 1973. But now he has got the highest position in the Kollywood family.

And his first debut movie was Apoorva Raagangal in which he co -starred with actor Kamal Hassan. In that movie he did the small role as a husband of Sridevi who is abusive. The movie was a blockbuster hit and it also won the national film award for best feature in Tamil. And after that he did the movie in Kannada called Katha Sangama, directed by Puttana Kangal it was released in 1976. Later he did many films and became famous in the Indian cinema industry. Awards: Rajinikanth has got many awards for his acting skills. He won the first Filmfare Award for the Best actor in tamil for the movie Nallavanuku Nallavan. Later for the movies Sivaji and Enthiran he was nominated for the Filmfare Awards. He has also received Tamilnadu state film awards in the best category for his roles in the movies Padayappa , Muthu, Chandramuki and Sivaji. He has also won the Cinema express awards. He also received the great award called "KALAIMANAMI" in the year 1994. And also won Padma Bhusan award . Rajini was awarded by NDTV in the year 2011 as the Entertainer of the Decade by the Home Minister Chidambaram. Rajinikath is one of the most famous actors in the Tamil cinema industry and he is also called as the Super star by his fans and it is to be noted that the actor gets nearly crores for all his blockbuster movies. Rajinikanth after being empowered by a strong desire to become an actor came to Chennai, which is the platform for Tamil Cinema actors. His best friend helped him to join the Madras Film Institute and he completed his acting course by the year 1974. Rajinikanth got his first chance in the Kannada movie "Katha Sangama" for playing smaller roles which were directed by the director Puttanna kanagal. After that in Tamil he played a role of a cancer-patient in the movie Apoorva Raagangal which was directed by famous director K.Balachandar in the year 1975. Rajini considers him as his mentor, and he was the one to name him Rajnikanth. This movie also had another famous actor Kamal Hassan in the leading role, who became one of his close friends in the industry. Another movie which gave Rajini a wide recognition was Moondru Mudichu which was released in the year 1976, in which he was to act in the role of a cruel womanizer. Later he did many blockbuster movies like 16 Vayadhinile, Gayathri in which he did villain and anti hero roles. Director S. P. Muthuraman was the first to give Rajinikath the leading hero role in his movie role Bhuvana Oru Kelvikkuri, in which Rajinikanth played a villain in the first half of the movie and changed as a good human in the second part of the movie. After that Rajinikanth took the leading positive roles and character roles in the films like Mullum malarum, Arilirundhu Arubathu Varai, Billa, Pokkiri raja. He also did various styles in his acting for doing the movies Murattu kalai, Payum puli and Moondru mugam. All the movies became box-office hit and took Rajinikath to the greatest height. He was seen as a good coemddian as well as the leading actor in the movie Thillu mullu which was released in the year 1981. One of his most unique movies was Sri Raghavendra which was released in the year 1985 and that was his 100th film and it was about a biographical portrait of Hindu saint Raghavendra Swami. Rajinikath proved himself as one who is good in dramas through the movies Pudhu Kavithai and Aarulirundhu Arubadhuvarai. In the movie Pudhukavithai, he did the role of a person who has lost his lady love and roams as a drunken one, and the man getting her loved one was pictured in the awesome way and the background music was given by Illaiyaraja. In the late 1980's Rajinikanth started doing more and more action oriented family entertainment movies like Velaikkaran, Manidhan, Dharmathin thalaivan, etc., and all these movies was considered to be blockbusters of 1990's. And these movies brought him the name of Super star of Tamil cinema industry. And some of these include Annamalai, Baasha, Padayappa. These movies had the smell of politics in those. His nex movie was Chandramuki which was released in the year 2005 and it was the remake of the Malayalam movie Manichitrath. Chandramuki was the box-office hit movie and has created a mark in the Indian film industry. Rajinikath's previous movie Baba which was released in the year 2002 was not so successful. Rajinikantha's next movie was Sivaji and it was a big budget movie and for that movie he was paid nearly 26 crores. Rajinikanth has acted in over 170 films all over in Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and Bengali. He has also acted in one of the Hollywood movie Blood stones in the year 1988. He has also acted with many notable actors like Sivaji Ganesan, Amitab Bachchan, Kamal Hassan, Mammooty and Sridevi. He has worked for many famous directors like Mani Ratnam and Bharathiraja. Rajinikath also employed himself in politics for sometime. Rajinikanth joined hands with Latha Rangachari on 26th February 1981 at the age of 31. Their marriage took place in Tirupati , Andra Pradesh . The couple got two beautiful daughters namely Aishwarya Rajinikanth and then younger one named Soundarya Rajinikanth. Both of his daughters got married. Aishwarya married actor Dhanush and they have got two children and then recently Soundarya got married to industrialist Ashwin Ramkumar.
