A.R. Murugadoss Arunasalam is as an Indian film director, producer and screenwriter. A. R. Murugadass was born in Kallakurichi, Tamil Nadu. He finished his B.A. in Bishop Heber College, Trichy. During his College days, he had great affinity towards Tamil films and friends.

He was very active in cultural events, especially in performing mimic shows, imitating famous personalities of cine field. Murugadoss currently resides in Virugambakkam, Chennai. He is a successful director in Kollywood. He has recently spread his wings in Bollywood with his Hindi remake of Ghajini which has won many awards. He has directed five films till now and has worked with top actors like Amir Khan, Surja, Ajith, Vijayakanth, Chiranjeevi, Suresh Gopi, etc.

Awards: He was the winner of Stardust Hottest New Filmmaker – Ghajini. He was the winner of Apsara Award for Best Director – Ghajini. He was nominated for the Film fare Best Director Award – Ghajini. He was nominated as the Star Screen Award for Best Director– Ghajini. Indian film director and writer. A. R. Murugadoss is an acclaimed Tamil director in Kollywood cinema, the Chennai–based Tamil film industry. He has done five films. Four of his five films have been classified hits and Ghajini in Tamil especially received many reviews for his style of directing. The remake of Tamil movie Ghajini in Hindi had a big opening and broke many records, and it was an all time blockbuster. It's the first Bollywood movie to cross the 200 crore in the collection category. Right from his school days, Murugadoss has interest towards writing short stories and novels. Encouraged by people close to him, he migrated from Kallakurichi to Chennai. He started his career by working with writer Kalaimani.Later he worked in the Tamil film named Poochudava, acted as a cameo role and as an assistant director with S. J. Surya for few films like Vaali and Khushi. S. J. Surya recommended to actor Ajith for directing his first film, Dheena. It was a mass entertainer and was a blockbuster. His next film Ramana with Vijayakanth was a commercial success and was one of the biggest hits of the year. His third film was Ghajini with Surya and Asin. It was one of the biggest blockbusters which gained him recognition as a director In the year 2002 he made the Malayalam remake movie Kasi and for that movie he got a great name and he also won Filmfare Best Tamil Director Award and the movie was a box office hit. And he again acted in the action movie Gemini which was produced by the famous AVM Productions. And the movie was a blockbuster. Then in later years he did the movies like Samurai and King. By 2003 A.R.Murugadoss acted in the Dhool again which was directed by his friend Dharani and it was also a blockbuster. Then he did the role in a family drama movie Kadhal Sadugudu but the film did not do well. A.R.MURUGADOSS has written 30 short stories and a novel in his school and college days. Though he was very well talented and acknowledged by students and teachers, he was known to be a very humble and calm person.Mr. Murugadoss currently lives in an independent house in AVM Avenue, Virgambakkam, Chennai with his wife Anita and kids.
