Maheshbabu is an actor best known for his work in Telugu cinema.He was born on 9th august 1975 in Chennai to prominent telugu actor Ghatamanani siva rama Krishnan and smt.Indira devi.He was born in big family and has got an elder brother Ramesh babu Ghatamanani who is actor turned producer and two elder sisters who acted as child artistes.Mahesh babu entered in the cinema fied at the age of four as a child artist in 1979 .

He took a leading role in the Telugu movie Rajakumarudu. He acted as a child artist in nine telugu movies,also took the leading role in seventeen movies and still continues. In addition to the films, he also acts for various advertisements in Andrapradesh such as navaratnail,univercell,idea cellular,provogues,santoor soap and south india shopping mall in south India.

In 1983, he was requested to act in the role of Krishna by director Kodi Ramakrishna for his film Poratam , they were having difficulty casting for the role of Krishna. Raja Kumaradu was Mahesh's debut and he starred opposite Preity Zinta. His role as Raja won him the Nandi Best Male Debut. Awards: Nandi Award for Best Male Debut in Raja Kumarudu in 1999. He started his career as a child artist by playing a small role in his elder brother Ramesh Babu's debut film, for which the director was Dr. Dasari Narayana Rao in 1979, at the age of 4. Producer and director Dhoondy, one of the early backers of Krishna in his struggling days, watched a preview of the movie and was stunned to find out that he was Krishna's own son and remarked that there was a shine in him and he played an excellent role in that movie. Due to his excellent acting, Mahesh became successful as a child artist through varied roles. In the film Sankharavam in 1987 for the first time he was working with his father directing him for the first time. Veteran director A. Kodandarami Reddy directed him and his brother Ramesh for Bazaar Rowdy in 1988, which gave him the good platform for his acting. Mugguru Kodukulu in 1988 saw him again working with his brother and father, the father directing them all the time. And the film Gudachari 117 in 1989 made Mahesh to give his acting best for the movie directed by his first film director Kodi Ramakrishna in a James Bond type of flick for which his dad, the lead in the movie, was famous. His next release was the movie Yuvaraju which realesed in the year 2000 which was directed by Y.V.S Chowdary, the movie was a box office hit completing 100 days in 19 centers all over AndraPradesh. In the same year, another movie did by Mahesh called Vamsi under the direction of B. Gopal was released and this movie had Namrata Shirodkar as the co-actress for the first time with Mahesh. During this movie, Mahesh and Namrata started loving each other in real life and this relationship successsfully resulted in their marriage. In 2001, his successful movie Murari, directed by Krishna Vamsi and co-starring Sonali Bendre, was released and earned Mahesh plaudits from all sections of audience and from critics. He bagged a Nandi Special Jury Award for the performance made by him in the film. Takkari Donga, which was produced and directed by Jayanth C. Paranjee was released in 2002, where Mahesh got the role of a cowboy. The role and the movie were meant to give the legacy of Krishna,which was the first ever Indian cowboy and it was the first Indian cowboy movie Mosagallaku Mosagadu. His great effort in his carrier in the movie led to another Nandi Special Jury Award. His next film Bobby was also released in the same year. Aarthi Agarwal was first time to act with Mahesh babu in this movie which was directed by Sobhan. Mahesh then appeared in Okkadu which was directed by Gunasekhar and co-actor was Bhumika Chawla, the movie was successfully produced by M.S. Raju. The same year also had Mahesh again work with Gunasekhar for his next movie Arjun which was produced by his elder brother . His next Telugu movie ,Golimar, was released in the month of May 2010. His next release was the movie Mogudu, in which acted with the most beautiful heroine Taapsee Pannu. Ramesh Babu for this movie also received a Nandi Special Jury Award for his very natural emotional acting performance in the film. In the year 2005, Mahesh started his life with Namrata Shirodkar after being a lover for almost 5 years. The year too saw the first release after his marriage and Trivikram Srinivas's second direction movie venture, Athadu. He was co–starred alongside with Trisha Krishnan. Mahesh once again achieved a great applause for his performance in the movie and it gave him the Nandi Award for Best Actor for the second time. Pokiri,which was produced jointly by his sister Manjula Ghattamaneni and Vaishno Academy and directed by Puri Jagannadh was the one of the great Telugu film of the year. In that movie he was paired alongside with Ileana D'Cruz. Pokiri was a success in Andrapradesh as well as other states and overseas. The film completed 100 days in as many as 200 centres in Andhra Pradesh and had completed silver jubilee in almost 63 centres. Again that movie earned him his second Filmfare Best Actor Award (Telugu). The year again wanted Mahesh to work again with Director Gunasekhar and actress Trisha Krishnan for the movie Sainikudu. In the year 2007, for his next venture Mahesh did a corporate film making in Telugu Film Industry. He jointly did it with UTV and with young director Surender Reddy for Athidi which made him the first corporate hero in Telugu Film Industry. He acted with the heroine Amrita Rao. After the movie Athidi, Mahesh devoted lot of time to family matters with a new toddler to spend time with, and was helping Namrata cope with her father's illness and then his death, followed by Namrata's mother's a bout to suffer with cancer and her death. In the year 2008, Mahesh again gave his voice for the film Jalsa, directed by his close friend Trivikram Srinivas. In the year 2009 Mahesh was also working on a movie with Trivikram Srinivas again as director. In 2010, after a 3 year long gap Maheshbabu returned to the cinema screen with the Telugu movie Khaaleja which was again directed by his friend Trivikram Srinivas. The movie got a lot of problems in development due to its production problems and due to the major Telangana agitations after overcoming all these problems, the film was released, the movie received all mixed reviews and also became one of the highest grossing Telugu films of the year. Mahesh babu married a young beautiful Bollywood actress and a former Femina Miss India Namrata Shirodhkar on febraury 10th 2005.They both acted in a movie Vamsi. Mahesh babu has got two children, a son Gautam Krishna born on august 31st 2006 and a daughter Sitara born on July 10th 2012. Mahesh babu lives with his family now in Hyderabad.
