Bhilai is located southwest of Chhattisgarh state of India, its latitude is 21 13' 0 N and longitude is 81 25' 60 E.
HISTORY
Bhilai was originally under the reign of Haihaivansi Rajputs Kingdom till 1740.Later it was passed to the Maratha rulers and then came under the administration of the British from 1853.A decade later the Russian government took measures to establish a Indian Steel plant which was second of its kind in the country. Only after this transformation of this village into a modern city took place.Bhilai is also becoming a pioneer in the field of education and technology.

Siyadevi Temple
This temple is located at a distance of about 20 kms from Balod and it houses Sita Maiya’s Mandir which is been constructed in the midst of a dense jungle.

Balod which is situated at a distance of about 58 km.from Durg is famous for the old palace Prachin Kila,Mandir & Sati Chabutra.Maitribagh
This garden which is controlled by the Bhilai township is featured with musical fountain which happens to be the biggest in Asia and it attracts large crowds.Maitribagh also houses a zoo of various animals and birds. For amusement there is a lake along with toy train.
Deobalod
This place is known for the oldest Shiv Mandir and it is situated about 3 km. from Bhilai.Tandula
The major attraction of the tourist visiting Tandula is the dam on the river Tandula and this place is located at a distance of about 60 km.from the district of Durg.
The irrigation department also offers guest houses for the visitors.
Dhamdha
This place is located at a distance of about 45 kms from the Durg and it nestles an ancient palace called Prachin Kila.
There is also a temple in close proximity to the Palace.
Siyadevi
This temple which is located at a distance of about 20 kms from Balod is in a dense jungle and the goddess worshipped here is Sita Maiya wife of ord Rama.Close to this temple there is a small water fall which pours down in the month of July and February.
Nagpura
This is situated at 2 km. from the district of Durg and is famous for Jain Temples & Pasharwanath Tirth.Kharkhara
The major attraction of this place is the dam on the river Kharkhara which is situated at a distance of about 95 km. away from Durg.The total length of the dam is 1128 m.
Hajra Falls
The Hajra fall which pours from a height of 150 feet is located 11 kms away from Bhilai and it is an important tourist attraction in this city.
