India achieved 70.10 GW solar energy against target of 100GW in the year 2022.
India installed 13,956 MW of solar between January and December 2022.
This included 11.3 GW of utility-scale PV, about 1.9 GW of rooftop solar, and nearly 700 MW of off-grid/distributed capacity.
Most of the large-scale solar capacity in 2022 was installed in the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Tamil Nadu.
Solar energy accounts for around 52% of the overall renewable energy mix, followed by wind energy at 35%, bio-power at 9%, and small hydro at 4%.
The top 4 state in the list are Rajasthan with 19.5 GW of capacity followed by Gujarat with 17.9 GW, Tamilnadu – 16.9 GW and Karnataka with 16.2 GW of installed solar capacity.
