India produced 35.24 million tonnes of sugar in the first eight months of the 2021/22 marketing year, which ends on Sept. 30, and 29 mills are still operational, the Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA) has said. The estimated production volume of milled sugar was highest in the state of Maharashtra in India, amounting to12.8 million metric tons in 2021/2022.
Sugar ExportsIndia's 2021-22 sugar exports are expected to rise by 25%, according to estimate of industry body Indian Sugar Mills Association (ISMA). India is likely to export 90 lakh tonnes of sugar in the current sugar year, against 71.91 lakh tonnes it exported in the previous year.
