India is the top producer and consumer of milk globally.
Around 54% of milk production in India is marketed through milk cooperatives and unorganised players in the market. India’s five largest milk-producing states,
accounting for over half of the national production are Uttar Pradesh (16%), Rajasthan (13%), Madhya Pradesh (9%), Andhra Pradesh (8%) and Gujarat (7%).
Revenue of the organised dairy sector in India is set for the second straight fiscal of double-digit growth at 11-12%, a notch below last fiscal's 13% growth.
