The states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Punjab are the major cotton producers in India.

Cotton Exports

  • Cotton yarn and fabrics exports accounts for about 23 per cent of India’s total textiles and apparel exports.
  • In 2019, India’s cotton production was 28.70 million bales of 170 Kg each
  • During 2019, total textile and clothing exports stood at US$ 36.62 billion.
  • During 2019 exports of cotton yarn, cotton fabrics and cotton made-ups reached to US$ US$ 3.90 billion and US$ 5.95 billion, respectively.

  • During April-November 2019, exports of cotton yarn, cotton fabrics and cotton made-ups reached to US$ US$ 1.74 billion, US$ 3.99 billion and US$ 5.58 billion, respectively.
