Turbine Industry in 2018-2019
Low capacity addition of 2,000 MW in FY19 is hurting wind equipment makers according to Suzlon.
Wind equipment manufacturers’ profit margins and revenue have taken a beating as India is expected to add only 2,000 MW capacity in 2019.

Problems faced by the Industry
The last couple of years have been transitional for the wind industry after it shifted from the feed-in-tariff regime to competitive bidding process. Capacity utilisation has fallen sharply and expansion plans are also in limbo as crashing tariffs have constrained liquidity.
Wind energy generators in the country are currently troubled by land availability constraints in Gujarat, which has some of the best wind zones.
The wind industry has been able to utilise only 20% of its annual capacity of 10,000 MW this year. We need at least 50% capacity utilisation to get reasonable sustainability.
