HEADLINES:  

Total export of plastic and plastic products from India stood at US$ 449.72 million in 2015. The Indian Plastic industry comprises of more than 2,000 exporters.

It employs about 4 million people and comprises more than 30,000 processing units, 85-90 per cent of which are small and medium-sized enterprises.


Over the past few years the demand and usage of plastics in several industries has increased tremendously. The Indian plastic industry has grown by 13% annually in the last five years and a similar growth rate is expected to continue in 2016-17.

The size of the industry is expected to reached Rs. 1.7 lakh crore from Rs. 1.02 lakh crore last year.
