HEADLINES:  

The Indian Solar Industry did not register any significant year-over-year installation growth for 2013, even as global solar market grew by 20% as 420 mw of projects were delayed. Year 2013 witnessed installations at 900 mw. In 2013 the Indian solar industry saw high inflation, a 8 % rise in module prices and a 15% rupee depreciation, all of which contributed to overall project costs.


Industry sources add that about 1,750 MW of solar installations in India are projected for 2014. Although the projected installation growth looks impressive, it includes 420 MW of CSP projects that did not get installed in 2013. Aiming to install 20 GW of solar power by the yer 2020, India is already well on her way, having grown from an installed solar capacity of only 30 MW in 2010 to 2,000 MW in 2013. .
