The Indian Fashion Industry is a very young industry if compared globally. But then it is growing at a rate of above 10% per year. It is likely to cross $400million by 2014.

The industry is slated to grow at a faster rate due to the increase in the number of design schools and International design studios setting shop in India. India is home to a wide variety of raw materials needed for the fashion industry.


The Indian Fashion Industry is a part of the INR 12,600 crore e-commerce industry, growing at 32% per annum. The Indian E-tailing market is estimated at 2700 crores, also growing at 30% per annum. Online shoppers contributed INR 9210 crores, of which INR 2210 crores was spent for branded clothing.

In year 2013 there was a high demand for online branded fashion products amongst Indian consumers. With the government trying to bring in FDI there will be an increase of opportunities for the Indian Fashion industry.
