Chandigarh

The Union Territory of Chandigarh is a city aesthetically planned and architecturally modern, marked by grand avenues, gardens, elegant boulevards and promenades. Chandigarh lies in a valley of the Siwalik Hills, two small rivers flowing nearby.

The French architect, Le Corbusier, designed it. Chandigarh is named after the temple of Chandi. The city was completed between 1951 and 1965. The basic unit of the city is the sector with each sector being self-sufficient with its own school, place of worship and shops.
