The most famous cultured pearls studded in gold and silver jewellery which are of exquisite design are a specialty of Hyderabadi jewellery. Then there is an entire street consisting of pearl shops named - Patther Gatti.


Pearls in Hyderabad come in many shapes and of particular interest is the most famous and unique 'rice-pearl' � which is a tiny variety, available in great depth in Char Kaman, Gulzar Houz and General Bazar. People from across the world usually flock to these areas to purchase ornaments with rice pearls. Another famous pearl place is the precious "Basra"- a pearl unmatched in luster, colour and price which are available in selected stores. Jewellers in this famous pearl market mostly have the combined pearls with the shimmer of gold, embedded with rich rubies and the exquisite emeralds for centuries.
