Event management refers to applying of management practice for a projects resulting in creation and developments of events of festivals, events and conferences. It is an exciting profession which demands a lot of hard work and dynamism. Event management as the name signifies is conceptualizing, planning, organizing and finally executing an event. Qualifications
Number of universities which offer Graduate Degree/Diploma in Event Management have increased according to today’s scenario providing certificate, diploma, degree and masters degree coursework. Some institutes are offering specialized diplomas and advanced diplomas in Event Management with the aim to bring the talent out of the bunch. However to become an event manager in a reputed firm or company, one must have an MBA degree along with good public relations. Having a degree in public relations along with your Masters in marketing is an added advantage, as a PR graduate comes out with top-level media communications skills.

Desired and Essential Skills
A candidate should possess creative, organizational skills, enjoy meeting people to form good inter-personal relationships and should be willing to work hard to experience the thrill of achievement which is rightly suited to enter into this industry. Good communication and a confident approach in accepting challenges is also a must. This is a profession which demands perfection, challenges of meeting deadlines within a stipulated time. Patience to pay attention to every small detail of things that go into the organizing is also needed. It keeps a person on his toes and ultimately provides a great deal of satisfaction and emotional contentment of having organized a successful show which is appreciated by the audience. Of course, one also needs to be prepared to handle any mishaps that may just happen at the last minute despite perfect co-ordination and arrangements. An able person can work as a manager in an event management company or as a consultant in corporations or can work independently. Event management is still a highly unorganized sector and hence you won't see many advertisements for recruiting freshers. Approaching agencies in the town may be a good idea. It is tough initially to get a break-through, but once in, it all depends how well you adapt to the challenges of this very exciting industry. Salary Range
People with the right attitude, mind-set and training in event management may draw beginning salaries ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 20,000 per month, Graduates with no formal training in this area are recruited on a project basis. With experience, salaries grow phenominally. Established firms earn 10-30% of the entire profit from a mega show. After a course in event management, fresher's can earn Rs 500-1000 per day. Once they establish themselves and have enough experience in the field, event managers could command fees from Rs.50,000 to Rs.1 lakh or above per event depending on their client.
