Custom in Hinduism to Remove the Footwear Outside the Sacred Temple
It is a custom in Hinduism to remove the footwear outside the sacred temple premises which symbolizes that we leave our negativity and evil thoughts and also accept Susceptibity and smallness of our being and entity in the eyes of the Lord, the supreme being. When we approach the Lord without the footwear or bare- footed it indicates our respect and humbleness in front of the almighty and whether be rich or poor all are same in the prevalence of God.
Also along with the removal of the footwear Hindus follow the custom of washing their feet and hands before they enter the sacred premises so that as they wash they also wash away the negative thoughts and evil factors that have been gathered by their mundane activities.
